Meteor Activity Outlook for 10-16 June 2023

During this period, the moon reaches its last quarter phase on Saturday June 10th. At that time it will rise near 02:00 and will remain above the horizon the remainder of the night. It will be a slight nuisance to meteor observing but one can simply view toward another direction to avoid the moon’s glare. Toward the end of the week the thin crescent moon will rise just prior to dawn and will not interfere with meteor observing.

Meteor Activity Outlook for 3-9 June 2023

During this period, the moon reaches its full phase on Sunday June 4th. On that date it will lie above the horizon all night long. As the week progresses, the moon rises approximately 45 minutes later each night. Toward the end of this period the evening hours are free of interfering moonlight.
